Description: |
? I used to want a black enamel farmhouse sink. Now, I just want shelter.' |
Synopsis: |
Crawlspace, a play about property, ownership, shelter and security, is inspired by Hines's true story of buying a fully detached "condo alternative" in a hip downtown neighbourhood in the heated market of 2006 ... and how it all went horribly, nightmarishly wrong. Hines performed the show at Videofag in Toronto in September 2015. The story also became a National Magazine Award-nominated feature called "My Little House of Horrors," published in Swerve magazine. All the Little Animals draws on Alison Bechdel's famed test of fictional female independence as a point of departure to explore professions, moral philosophy, art, social systems, faith, and madness. It features appearances by the ghosts of Anne Sexton, Virginia Woolf, and Sylvia Plath. A production is forthcoming in February 2017.Crawlspace is a monologue, ideal for students, and All the Little Animals is a four-hander.Hines is a Second City alumna and has appeared in several film and television series, most notably Ken Finkleman's Newsroom TV series and the Robin Williams vehicle, Man of the Year. |
