Description: |
Originally screened as part of ITV's South Bank Show, this feature-length documentary about the life and work of 20th-century British composer William Walton examines his childhood in Oldham, his years as a chorister at Oxford University, his induction into high society by the Sitwell family and the series of major works he wrote during the 1920s and early 1930s. After he became famous Walton relocated to the island of Ischia in Italy where, surrounded by the tropical garden created by his wife Susana, he continued to compose impressive but often overlooked works. |
