Andrzej Wajda's film follows on from his earlier work, 'Man Of Marble' (1977), telling the story of Maciej Tomczyk played by Jerzy Radziwilowicz. Maciej is a young worker involved in the Polish anti-Communist labour movement, carrying the role on from his father who was killed in the 1970 protests. However, a journalist is assigned by the state to discredit Tomczyk and the Solidarity movement by any means possible. |
