Every year, the mysterious Gray Whale swims an extraordinary 10,000 miles between the Arctic and Mexico. In this programme Christopher Reeve (before his debilitating accident) sets himself a daunting task of trailing these majestic creatures to try and find out why. He teams up with a group of Yupik Eskimos and sails to the lagoons of Baja where the whales traditionally spend winter. Will Reeve find the answers he is looking for, or will the Gray Whales protect their secrets? The film was completed a short time before Reeve's tragic accident, so he was not well enough to add the narration. Christopher Plummer added the soundtrack, which captures the sentiments that the injured star intended. |
