Wartime propaganda drama produced by 'The Archers' (Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger). When the Nazis overrun Holland, they seize its largest shipyard to turn into a production line for their U-Boats. The shipyard's owner, Jaap Van Leyden (Ralph Richardson), is ordered by the head of the Gestapo to collaborate and help with U-Boat production. But unbeknownst to the Gestapo, Van Leyden is in fact a hero of the local resistance, and he sets in motion a desperate plan to strike back against the Nazi's production plant. The great British star of the 1940s, Googie Withers, provides romantic interest. |
