Description: |
All three instalments in George A. Romero's zombie trilogy. In 'Night of the Living Dead' (1968) Barbara and Johnny's visit to their father's grave is interrupted when Johnny is killed by a flesh-eating stranger. Barbara escapes to a nearby farmhouse, meets up with a few other desperate individuals, and prepares to do battle with the zombies who gather outside. 'Dawn of the Dead' (1979) catches up with the situation sometime later and discovers that the flesh-eating dead are now roaming the entire American continent. TV reporter Francine, her boyfriend Stephen and two SWAT team cops seek refuge in a deserted shopping mall, but their temporary haven is put in jeopardy by a gang of marauding bikers. By the time of the 'Day of the Dead' (1985) the undead are roaming the planet freely. The living have been forced underground, where they make their base in a hidden missile depot, helping with the experiments of scientist Doctor Logan, who hopes to domesticate the zombies. However, the military faction of the human survivors favour a more direct approach, and with food stocks becoming ever more depleted, they decide to take action. What follows is the final showdown between the forces of the living and the armies of the dead. |
