| Description: |
Musical based on a semi-autobiographical play by Louise Hovick (who was better known as the legendary Burlesque queen, Gypsy Rose Lee). Vivian Blaine plays 'Doll Face' Carroll, a dancer who is dismissed from an audition for a legitimate Broadway show because she lacks culture and finesse. Her manager Mike (Dennis O'Keefe) decides that she can get both culture and plenty of publicity by writing her autobiography with the help of a ghost writer, but things don't go exactly as Mike expected. The film also features a typically flamboyant turn from Carmen Miranda, as well as a young Perry Como singing his hit, 'Hubba, Hubba, Hubba'. |
