The entire second BBC drama series about women prisoners-of-war during the Second World War. It is 1942 and the women have left the POW camp where they were kept together for a year, and are moved to a new camp. pisode one follows the women as they are made to march to their new camp, while episode two shows their joy at reaching the camp and its luxury. Episode three sees the women being made to pose for propaganda photos and describes their suffering under the iron rule of Verna Johnson. Episode four, however, shows their first day at work and their resulting exhaustion. Whilst episode five finds Dorothy's behaviour becoming erratic while the other women worry about how to deal with her pregnancy. In episode six it is revealed that Joss is actually Lady Jocelyn and some old camp mates are brought back. In episode seven Christina hopes the guards will be distracted by the Emperor's birthday so that Rose can secretly meet Bernard, whilst in the episode eight the camp suffers because of the failure of this rendezvous. Dorothy learns that her friend, Shinya, shot Rose in the episode nine and, in the final episode Yamauchi collapses leading to Christina discovering a Red Cross letter about aid parcels. |
