Description: |
All three episodes from the television mini-series based on Frank Herbert's classic sci-fi novel. In 'Episode One' Duke Leto (William Hurt) leads the House of Atreides as it takes over the command of the desert planet Arrakis and the harvesting of its uniquely powerful 'spice', an element essential to inter-galactic space travel. But the rule of Atreides is disrupted by Baron Harkonnen (Ian McNeice), a former commander of Arrakis, who has vowed to do everything in his power to regain control. Harkonnen brings chaos to the Atreides regime, banishing Jessica (Saskia Reeves) and Paul (Alec Newman), Leto's wife and son, to the mercy of the desert, and re-establishing his control of the spice flow. 'Episode Two' sees Paul and Jessica rescued by a group of desert nomads known as the Fremen. Paul then gradually gains power and becomes the Fremen leader. Meanwhile, Harkonnen hands over the control of his bloody regime to his even-more-brutal nephew Rabban. 'Episode Three' finds Paul and the Fremen brethren causing inter-galactic havoc when they sabotage Harkonnen's spice mining operation on Arrakis. Desperate to re-establish the flow of this precious element, a fleet of imperial spaceships arrives to invade Arrakis and regain control. But Paul and the Fremen refuse to give in and prepare to mount their biggest attack yet. |
