Description: |
Box set containing three erotic dramas. 'Showgirls' (1995) is Paul Verhoeven's attempt to couple the softcore sex film with the Hollywood musical stars Elizabeth Berkley as a Las Vegas stripper who lap-dances her way to the city's most prestigious chorus line. Vying with the show's established star for the leading role in a new erotic spectacular, Berkley gives the director (Kyle MacLachlan) a close-up demonstration of what she can do. Dave Stewart of Eurythmics provides the music for the steamy dance routines. In '9 ½ Weeks' (1986), Kim Basinger plays a divorced art gallery assistant who finds herself drawn into an obsessive sexual relationship with a compelling Wall Street broker (Mickey Rourke). At first the relationship is stimulating and exciting, but as their sex games become increasingly perverse she begins to fear for her sanity. In 'Wild Orchid' (1990), Claudia (Jacqueline Bisset) and Emily (Carre Otis) are two lawyers, the latter a green young thing from Kansas, the former anything but. They are sent to Rio to clear up a property development deal which is about to go sour and the developer who holds all the cards - in the bedroom and the boardroom - is James Wheeler (Rourke) with whom both women become obsessed. |
