Description: |
Playful and knowing account of the life and turbulent times of Factory records boss Anthony H. Wilson. Starting at a near-legendary if under-attended early concert by the Sex Pistols at a dingy Manchester venue in 1976, we follow Wilson (Steve Coogan) as he is inspired to get the band and other punk acts on Granada (Manchester) music television. Chaos ensues but inspired by this revolutionary music scene Wilson starts first a club, then a label, 'Factory', that will become home of Joy Division, New Order, and the Happy Mondays among others. The Hacienda club takes off, drugs hit the city, high times are had and fortunes lost. |
