| Description: |
After meeting his hero, the wealthy Duc de Nevers (Vincent Perez), in Paris, swordsman Legardère (Daniel Auteuil) becomes his sworn protector. Nevers' life is under threat from his cousin, Gonzague (Fabrice Luchini), who has employed an assassin to get rid of him. When Nevers arrives in Caylus to wed Blanche (Claire Nebout), the mother of his child, he and his guests are slaughtered. Blanche is kidnapped by Gonzague, but Legardère escapes, taking with him Nevers' young daughter, Aurore. Sixteen years later, Aurore (Marie Gillain) is unaware of her parentage until she and Legardère arrive again in Paris, where Gonzague is now a powerful banker. |
