| Description: |
Sci-fi horror directed by Abel Ferrara. Teenage girl Marty Malone (Gabrielle Anwar) moves with her father, stepmother and stepbrother to a military base where her father has a new job investigating environmental hazards. Based on Jack Finney's classic sci-fi novel 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers', the film emphasises the tensions and lack of trust in the Malone family as an alien plot to turn all humans into emotionless, unfeeling 'pod people' unfolds around them. The alien pods, which grow long tentacles, attack people as they sleep by sliding into their mouth and nostrils. The film, which was nominated for the Golden Palm Award at the Cannes Film Festival, co-stars Forest Whitaker and Meg Tilly. |
