Synopsis: |
This report, produced by the Department for Works and Pensions, has set out 13 responses to recommendations made in an independent review by Professor Hazel Glenn into the Social Security Advisory Committee (SSAC). Among them are: the continuation of the SSAC as a body, in its advisory role to the Secretary of State on social security issues, and in scrutinizing the Department's public information strategy; that the SSAC's remit to scrutinise subordinate legislation should be restored, but that there is no necessity to extend the statutory powers of SSAC despite its' advisory role in relation to tax credits. |
