Synopsis: |
Traceability requirements are linked to legislative demands in that any product placed on the market shall be fit for purpose and not injurious to health and allows identification of products if they require withdrawal from sale. A comprehensive traceability system is required to ensure problems within the manufacturing process can be effectively identified and adequately managed, through trace back to the source of the problem as well as forward tracing to effect withdrawal of the product from the marketplace. These guidelines promote best practice for an effective traceability system. This guideline provides a framework for users to: understand the requirements for traceability, the principles for implementing an effective traceability system, and how to undertake a traceability test; identify ways to improve the traceability system; and, locate sources of further information in developing traceability technology. |
