Synopsis: |
This volume completes the Oxford Classical Text of Lucian by adding eleven works of the Lucianic corpus proper, four other works wrongly attributed to Lucian in a few manuscripts, and those epigrams from the Anthologies which have any claim to be regarded as Lucianic. The apparatus criticus is based on the editor's personal inspection of the most important manuscripts and aims to report their readings in clear and simple form. Of particular interest are two dramatic pieces, The Ship and the four collections of Dialogi Minores. One of the pseudo-Lucianea included is the Byzantine work, Timarion, not available in the Loeb series. Finally there is an index, for the four volumes, of names and of literary passages quoted, parodied, or adapted. |
