Synopsis: |
"Opera" introduces pupils to the music and songs of a variety of different operas. A synopsis of the plot, a closer look at some of the music and songs as well as many illustrations, games and quizzes aims to make this introduction to the world of opera exciting and interesting. The book contains six units, each dealing with one main opera in detail, and a second opera in brief. At least one musical item from each opera is included. The author's own translations of the words are used instead of the usual "music charts" and two pages of "follow-up" present musical activities which involve listening, performing, and occasionally composing. It is designed for students in the first three years of secondary school, upper primary and middle schools and should also be useful for part of the listening element of the GCSE Music examination. There is also a cassette available separately to accompany the book which includes all the music featured in the book. |
