This guide lists and describes the holdings of archives and manuscript collections, relating to Africa and Asia, built up in recent years at the Library of the School of Oriental and African Studies. The Library is the major centre for missionary society archives in the UK and contains some 750,000 documents, 20,000 photographs and many thousands of published works. The holdings include the archives of the China Inland Mission, the London Missionary Society, the Methodist Missionary Society, as well as the papers of individuals such as James Legge, David Livingstone and James Hudson Taylor. |
