Synopsis: |
As the countdown to the 2014 Scottish Independence Referendum gets underway, this comedic and action packed story of a pub crawl by three friends travelling along Edinburgh's Royal Mile brings to life many of the key issues surrounding the debate, told in a unique and compelling way. Set one week before the Referendum is due to take place, the novel features three main characters: a nationalist, a unionist, and a swing-voter, as we join them on their alcohol-fueled travels through the pubs of Edinburgh. The question is raised of whether these three can reach a consensus on the future of Scotland, and if they can be persuaded to unite together to vote 'Yes' despite their many differences. The book is relevant to anyone with an interest in Scottish politics and national identity, as well as local residents to the area. It samples many of the key geographic (mostly drinking!) establishments of the nation's capital. |
