Description: |
A lodge that feels good about itself is more likely it is to attract candidates. Many have ceased to feel good; numbers are low; visitors few; ritual poor and the festive board is quiet and finishes early. There's no need for this. You can feel good and this book shows you exciting stuff to do without ritual and will actually bring you candidates. |
Synopsis: |
When lodges have no candidates, they still carry on doing what they have always done. They rehearse ceremonies, listen to lectures, install their new Master and plead with the brethren to find new members. The constant pleading and repeated failure just makes the brethren feel bad - if they could bring in a candidate, they would have done so already. To escape this vicious circle, we must look at things another way. The law of paradoxical intent holds that by doing something different, even the opposite of what we usually do, we will be more likely to succeed and so being busy not seeking candidates will actually cause them to appear! In this book you will find a lot of exciting stuff to do even without progressive ritual and, believe it or not, doing this sort of thing will actually bring candidates. The reason is obvious. Candidates will come to energetic lodges; ones that are involved, active and ready for something new - and thus feeling good about themselves. People will rarely talk about dull, grey lodges that are doing nothing interesting but they will talk about lodges that are busy, exciting and vibrant. This goes for the members of a lodge as well - and excitement is infectious. In just three years, our lodge has initiated eleven brethren and welcomed three joining members. As I write, there are 10 candidates on our waiting list. Here is a truth: There are many men out there anxious to become members. They simply have not found a friendly way in. Here is the way to offer them one. |
