The Last of the Chiefs by Joseph Altsheler is an adventure story. The story revolves around two boys who leave their homes in search of their fortune. They set out in quest of gold. After a very long and tiring journey, passing through many struggles, the boys reach West in search of gold. Unfortunately, the two boys are captured by Indians. They somehow keep themselves fit and fine in the custody of the Indians and, finally, they succeed in escaping from the confinement. In the process of their struggles against the odds, the two boys learn a lot about how to survive in the wilderness. They have strengthened themselves to face the impending challenges. The story is so compelling that the readers remain riveted till the very last line. The book is really worth reading. |
