This book talks about globalisation and the denial of Africa. It is a unique and insightful commentary on the current concerns facing Africa and Africans, in particular questioning the extent globalisation permits African participants in its processes. Since 9/11, there has been a growing recognition of the role of collapsed states in the African region in undermining international peace and security, leading to a renewed call for Western involvement in Africa. Written by authors from an international and multidisciplinary background, "Africa on a Global Stage" provides wide-ranging analysis of the issues facing Africa in terms of globalisation. The reconstruction of failed states as a defence against terrorism reinforces the imposition of so-called solutions to African development, whether influenced by external actors or local African elites, or - which is more likely - both.
