Synopsis: |
Welsh practitioners of this traditional Japanese form of poetry have come together to produce the first ever national anthology of haiku poetry. Although haiku have been written in Wales since the 1960's, it is in the last decade that it's popularity has increased, with numbers of Wales's serious haiku practitioners having doubled in this time. Presented by theme, rather than by poet, this collection creates a journey through and around the ordinary and the extra-ordinary aspects of everyday life. The poems are followed by an 'afterword' which presents a short history of haiku in Wales, and discusses the similarities and differences between the Welsh and Japanese traditions. |
