Synopsis: |
Luke Frost is the sixth artist to emerge from the Tate St Ives residence programme at Porthmeor Studios, St Ives, previously occupied by Borlase Smart, Ben Nicholson and Patrick Heron. An abstract painter, much of his work consists of solid blocks of colour, built up layers with the surface left smooth. His strictly formal arrangements explore the contrast, balance, rhythm and saturation of colour in a structural environment, along with the artist's aim to 'reflect and create a volt of excitement'. |
