Offers a survey of the Argentinean artist Guillermo Kuitca's work in the United States. This illustrated catalogue examines the artist's production between 1980 and 2008. It emphasises the artist's thematic groupings, and drawing, which significantly influenced his notion of painting. |
Synopsis: |
Argentinean artist Guillermo Kuitca was born in Buenos Aires in 1961 and continues to live and work there today. "Everything: Guillermo Kuitca" is the first comprehensive survey of the artist's work in the United States in more than ten years and accompanies a major travelling exhibition. This fully illustrated catalogue will examine the artist's production between 1980 and 2008, including many unpublished paintings and works on paper tracing the artist's continuing development. The book emphasises the artist's thematic groupings (his series of stage sets, house plans, maps, beds, genealogical charts, architectural floor plans, theatre interiors, and airport terminal baggage-claim carousels), and drawing, which significantly influenced his notion of painting, as a central focus.Including essays by Douglas Dreishpoon, Chief Curator at Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Olga Viso, Director of Walker Art Center, Terence Riley, Director of Miami Art Museum and Andreas Huyssen professor at Columbia University, as well as extensive interviews conducted with the artist in 1997 and 2008 by Graciela Speranza, this important volume will offer new insights into the work of this influential contemporary artist and will become his defining monograph to date. |
