Synopsis: |
Since the Premier League was formed in 1992, it has been won by only a handful of clubs. It is considered by many experts that these clubs have dominated the league because they are richer than anyone else, so enabling them to buy the best players in the world. To a whole new generation of fans, it must be a mystery how any club without the financial clout to have a huge transfer kitty could ever be the top club in England. Such a club, is Everton. In 1987 Everton were the top club in the land, but the way football is progressing, this could be the last time they ever win the league. When the author found the scrapbooks he had kept from that season, he found it easier to explain to his grandson how they did it. |
