This bulletin provides a comparison of the GCE A/AS level performance of 17 year-old students taking at least two GCE A levels or AS equivalents in, or before, 1995/96, with the GCSE performance of the same candidates. The national information given in the annex to this bulletin can be used to estimate typical GCE A/AS grades for students with given GCSE grades when they embark on their GCE A/AS courses. This may provide a basis for setting initial target grades against which the school or college can monitor individual students' progress throughout the course. These target grades can then be reviewed in the light of progress made to ensure each pupil reaches their full potential. |
