It provides a basic guide for owners or occupiers of these kind of business premises and also for local managers, supervisors or employees' representatives who need to know about fire precautions in places of work. Explaining how the Fire Precautions Act 1971 affects places of work and what the owners or occupiers may be required to do by law, it also gives guidance on fire precautions which, even if not legally compulsory, are prudent measures to reduce the risk of fire and ensure that people know what action to take in the event of a fire. There are four useful appendices including one which lists organizations able to give advice on facilities for people who are disabled or who are sensory-impaired. |
