Synopsis: |
As in 1991 and 1992, the 1993 Health Survey for England focused in particular on the prevalence of cardiovascular disease and associated risk factors. Some 16,500 adults aged 16 and over were interviewed between January and December 1993, four times the number for the 1991 and 1992 surveys. Amongst the main findings were that: a quarter of men (25%) and women (26%) said that they had had cardiovascular disease or a related condition diagnosed by a doctor. The survey provides baseline data for a nationally representative sample from which to monitor trends in the nation's health. |
