Conservation of biodiversity is important especially in relation to forests. Pressures on forest resources are severe and so there is a need to provide a sound scientific basis for conservation management. This book addresses this need by drawing together the principles of forest conservation genetics. The work introduces the principles and practices of forest conservation genetics. It progresses from basic genetics through genetic processes to threats and policy and socio-economic considerations. The authors have assumed the reader has only a basic understanding of genetics and have limited the mathematical content to that necessary for grasping concepts presented in the book.
