Synopsis: |
Guildford A Walk Through Time takes you on an historic tour around the centre of Surrey's county town. Using vintage photographs from the 1900s through to the 1950s alongside the same views as they look today, your route is explained with additional snippets of local history. The walk begins in the High Street at the Guildhall and heads to the Upper High Street, taking in Abbot's Hospital and the Royal Grammar School. The route then goes around Holy Trinity Churchyard and on to the Castle Grounds. From Quarry Street and past St Mary's Church, the next stop is the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, then on to Millmead and the Town Bridge. After passing along Friary Street the route takes in North Street, now much changed, before heading back to the High Street via Market Street. The walk is just under a mile and a half in length. |
