Synopsis: |
An Eternal Flame is the second in the Seven Hill series. A third body has been found at the base of one of Edinburgh's seven hills. All the victims are local sex workers and upon each of their thighs is emblazoned the murderer's calling card. Detective Inspector MacDuff is assigned to Operation Seven Hills, ably assisted by his sergeant, Jimmy Jack who has a convoluted personal life to add to his problems. Fifteen years previously a woman was pulled out of the Clyde. On post mortem, it appears that she was dead before the fish started nibbling at her. In preparation for this year's Scottish Police Federation Conference in Inverness, DS Jack researches the previously unsolved case. Ironically, the daughter of the dead woman works at the hotel where the conference is being held. Desperate to discover how her birth mother met her grisly end, she uses Jimmy to track down the man who orchestrated her death. The hidden kernel of the pornography business is exposed along with royal infidelity, but will justice ultimately seem to be done? |
