Description: |
A collection of previously unpublished works by British absurdist NF Simpson. |
Synopsis: |
"This collection brings together the best of N.F Simpson's short works for audiences new and old. Simpson's shorter and more 'experimental' writings, some of which were published in a scattered fashion in magazines like Tribune, Punch, Private Eye, Queen, Harper's Bazaar and Man About Town, have in many cases been unavailable for over half a century. Simpson was one of the principal playwrights in the Royal Court stable of innovative new writers until 1965, when he moved away from writing for the stage to producing radio and television scripts. Many of the monologues and sketches from this later period also feature in Most of What Follows is a Complete Waste of Time. At the turn of the century he re-emerged with the critically acclaimed play If So, Then Yes - eventually produced in 2010 - and an assortment of short experimental pieces that remain unpublished, barring the handful seen by readers of Ambit magazine in 2010. This volume includes material from that collection - Compilations 1: Anatomy of Bewilderment - which Simpson was working on when he died in 2011 " |
