Synopsis: |
Peter Liversidge has previously prepared artist's books of Proposals for cities as diverse as Barcelona, Basel, Brussels, Edinburgh. His ideas for artworks for exhibition in the cities range from the sublime to the supremely impractical and his work is characterised by an assured lightness of touch and quiet poeticism combined with a dark, absurdist humour. He has worked in almost every conceivable medium - drawing, performance, installation, painting, sculpture, intervention, artist's books and multiples. His Proposals for Liverpool have been developed in association with Tate Liverpool's exhibition The Fifth Floor, which will display some of Peter's executed ideas for Liverpool. His 118 Liverpool ideas include cleaning and restoring the clocks at Liverpool Lime Street Station; releasing a group of five gorillas into Liverpool's Sefton Park; designing a book-jacket logo for Liverpool University Press; installing owl boxes around the city of Liverpool to encourage owls to move into the city; filling the galleries of Tate Liverpool with bunk beds so to give the homeless of Liverpool somewhere to sleep over the duration of the show The Fifth Floor; and collating all the proposals sent to Peter Gorschlueter for the exhibition The Fifth Floor at Tate Liverpool in a book work. |
