Synopsis: |
Teachers are professional voice users and voice problems can afflict all teachers - not just the newly qualified. There is evidence to suggest that female voices are especially vulnerable. Teachers tend to work on through infections and hoarseness and this can result in longer term damage to the vocal cords. A deteriorating voice can also be linked to stress. Given the importance of the voice to teachers, it's perhaps surprising that more attention to the subject does not feature strongly either at the initial teacher training stage, or during CPD. A Voice Fit For Teaching is not just about the care of the voice, but also how to make better use of it. It's easy and quick to read and full of sound advice. |
