Set in the present day in the exotic Tomayon islands, "Chasing The Rainbow" is about two families, the Draymers and the Pendennys and a feud between them that started in the 16th century. When Kathryn, a young woman from the Welsh valleys, agrees to marry Michael Vandrel, the grandson of Drystan Pendenny, she little realises that their path to the altar will be a difficult one. Michael's mother, Ilona, after a long self-imposed exile in the UK because of a bitter quarrel with her father, is returning to the islands. Her husband, Richard, is to become the last Governor General of the two islands that were captured by the English centuries ago and is to oversee their return to the islanders. With independence looming many people now hope that the seven islands will be reunited under one ruling family, but which one? Hallam Draymer is the hereditary overlord but his only son was killed in a car crash many years ago and has no direct heir, only a distant cousin.
