Polish director Wojciech Has's road-movie for the mind follows a traveller as he reminisces about events in his life. Set in a pre-WWII Poland, Jozef (Jan Nowicki) is on his way by train to visit his dying father in the sanitarium where he lives. As the train trundles on, Jozef's memories of his parents and past combine with his fantasies, bringing forth images of the Ghetto, early girlfriends, colonial soldiers, and his parents in happier times. |
