Description: |
Box set of films featuring the special effects wizardry of Ray Harryhausen. In '20 Million Miles to Earth' (1957) , a US army rocket returning home from a mission to Venus crash lands in the Mediterranean. The surviving astronaut has brought back an egg from Venus which hatches, producing a fast-growing monster. In 'Earth vs. the Flying Saucers' (1956), a flying saucer arrives at a US airbase looking for help in saving a dying planet. The inhabitants have tried to contact a Dr. Russ Marvin (Hugh Marlowe) to let Earth know they have come in peace, but the army opens fire and the fleet of UFOs that is waiting in the sky has to retaliate. With the task of trying to save the entire human race, Dr Marvin has to find the aliens' achilles heel. In 'It Came From Beneath the Sea' (1955), a submarine spots a giant mutant killer octopus in the Pacific and tries to destroy it. The octopus escapes and heads for San Francisco, where it wrecks the Golden Gate Bridge and more. |
