Description: |
Triple pack showcasing the unique on-screen chemistry between three of Hollywood's greatest stars: Bob Hope, Dorothy Lamour and Bing Crosby. In 'My Favourite Brunette' (1947), Ronnie Jackson (Hope) is a baby photographer who aspires to the life of the detective working in the office next door. Following a case of mistaken identity he gets the chance for some real sleuthing, charged with finding the missing Baron Montay (Frank Puglia). Immediately out of his depth, the wise-cracking Ronnie tries to track down the Baron in a gloomy mansion with the Baroness (Lamour) at his side, and soon the two are in all sorts of trouble. 'Road to Bali' (1952) is the sixth in the 'Road' movie series, and the only one made in Technicolor. Hope and Crosby star as a music hall act who take jobs as deep-sea divers and then set sail for a crazy South Seas adventure, encountering cannibals, a giant squid, and the Princess McTavish (Lamour) along the way. Jane Russell, Humphrey Bogart, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis also turn up in cameo roles. 'Road to Hollywood' is a compilation of Bing Crosby's early two-reel musical comedies, originally made in 1931 but not released until 1946, when they were edited together by low-budget film-maker Bud Pollard. The six shorts are 'I Surrender Dear', 'One More Chance', 'Dream House', 'The Billboard Girl', 'Blue of the Night' and 'Sing Bing Sing'. |
