Description: |
Triple-bill of 1980s comedies directed by John Hughes. In 'Sixteen Candles' (1984), Samantha Baker (Molly Ringwald) is approaching her sixteenth birthday, but sees little to celebrate about: her family have, in any case, forgotten her big day, and she is suffering from a severe bout of unrequited love. Worse still, the object of her affections is being courted by the school's most desirable student - can Samantha trust her quarry to value brains over beauty? In 'The Breakfast Club' (1984), five very different teenagers are stuck with each other for the day when they are forced to spend Saturday at school on detention. Gradually, unlikely friendships form between them. Finally, in Weird Science' (1985), a couple of nerdy schoolboys hook a Barbie doll to their computer and scan in magazine pictures of perfect parts of the female anatomy as part of an experiment. The result is the woman of their dreams - Lisa (Kelly Le Brock), a curvaceous and house proud beauty - whose mission it is to help them get the girls. They soon find themselves the most popular boys at school after Lisa manages to loosen them up a bit. |
