Description: |
Pair of classic 1980s teen flicks. In 'The Breakfast Club' (1985), five very different teenagers are stuck with each other for the day when they are forced to spend Saturday at school on detention. Gradually, unlikely friendships form. John Hughes' seminal high school comedy set the template for a number of '80s teen movies, while Simple Minds scored a huge hit with their theme song, 'Don't You Forget About Me'. 'Weird Science' (1985) is another Hughes vehicle mixing sci-fi, teen-fantasies and comedy. A couple of nerdy schoolboys hook a Barbie doll to their computer and scan in magazine pictures of perfect parts of the female anatomy as part of an experiment. The result is the woman of their dreams - Lisa (Kelly Le Brock), a curvaceous and house proud beauty - whose mission it is to help them get the girls. They soon find themselves the most popular boys at school after Lisa manages to loosen them up a bit. |
