Description: |
A triple bill Ray Charles extravaganza featuring the Oscar-winning biopic starring Jamie Foxx, a live concert with a philharmonic orchestra, and a Christmas gospel concert. 'Ray' (2004) Is the acclaimed biopic of this legendary blues, soul and jazz musician. Despite losing his sight as a young boy and growing up in a segregated, racist society, Ray Charles (Jamie Foxx) is determined to follow his love of music. With a career that begins to grow beyond all expectations throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Ray struggles with drug addiction and failed relationships that take their toll on his health. Throughout all this, he never loses his love of music, eventually becoming a Grammy Award-winning icon and one of the most popular musicians of the twentieth century. 'An Evening With Ray Charles' (1981) features Uncle Ray performing a bevy of his greatest hits with the backup of the Edmonton Philharmonic Orchestra in Edmonton Canada. Tracks include 'I Can't Stop Loving You' and 'What I'd Say'. 'Ray: A Gospel Christmas' features the legend in his first ever Christmas special, when he performed with the internationally renowned 120-strong Voices of Jubilation Gospel Choir from Newark, New Jersey. |
