A road movie that combines voodoo, black comedy and strong sex and violence. Trashy Perdita Durango (Rosie Perez) hooks up with Romeo Delarosa (Javier Bardem), an odd-ball follower of the Santeria cult, who's used to robbing banks, and graves, to help furnish his cannibalistic rituals. When local crime boss Santos (Don Stroud) hires Romeo to hijack a truckload of human foetuses destined for cosmetic experiments, Romeo agrees, but plans a sacrifice to appease the gods in the meantime. After snatching potential victims, the pair are about to kill them when they're interrupted by DEA officers. With the hijack botched, Santos swears revenge on Romeo and Perdita, who flee with their two victims still in tow. |
