| Description: |
Collection of films featuring 'The Singing Cowboy'. In 'Billy the Kid Returns' (1938), Rogers plays a man who is mistaken for the notorious outlaw. In 'Saga of Death Valley' (1939), Rogers grows up to avenge his murdered father and clash with his own brother. In 'Days of Jesse James' (1939), our hero is hired to track down the famous outlaw after a bank robbery, only to discover that James might well be innocent of the charge. In 'Colorado' (1940), the Union cause in the Civil War threatens to be derailed by an Indian uprising, and it's up to Lieutenant Jerry Burke (Rogers) to investigate. In 'Robin Hood of the Pecos' (1941), Rogers plays Vance Corbin, a reluctant sherrif in a corrupt Texan town. In 'The Cowboy and the Senorita' (1944), in between the musical numbers, Rogers stars as a bumbling would-be prospector in a search for gold. In 'In Old Cheyenne' (1941), reporter Steve Blane (Rogers) arrives looking for famous outlaw Arapaho Brown (George 'Gabby' Hayes), only to find that Arapaho is being framed by another outlaw. In 'San Fernando Valley' (1944), a ranch owner fires his ranch hands and brings in women to replace them. Finally, in 'Song of Arizona (1946), 'Half-Chance Ranch', a refuge for homeless boys, is in financial trouble. When the son of an outlaw donates stolen loot to help, the gang members arrive looking for the cash. |
