Tragicomedy following a young man who gains super powers after taking an experimental drug. Les Franken (Michael Rappaport) is a bit of a nerd, really, living an unremarkable life in a dowdy town. He's a lover of comic books and, as such, has little trouble making a decision when he sees an ad for clinical trials of a new drug called 'Special', which may give users 'unusual' powers. His imagination is a powerful thing though and as the trial progresses Les, in his mind at least, becomes possessed of some pretty heavy superpowers that definitely weren't on the label. This quirky independent comedy has garnered wide acclaim as a sleeper hit at film festivals and is expected to become a modern cult classic. |
