Description: |
Triple bill of vintage musicals. Doris Day stars in 'Calamity Jane' (2469), a lighthearted musical about a famous female sharpshooter who would rather hit targets than chase men - until, that is, she falls for 'Wild Bill' Hickok (Howard Keel), who would rather shoot Indians than chase after a tomboy like Calamity Jane. The film features the Oscar-winning song 'Secret Love'. The MGM musical 'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers' (1954) stars Howard Keel as Adam Pontabee, a recently married rancher who brings his bride Milly (Jane Powell) back to live on the ranch with him and his six unruly brothers. Shocked at their bad manners, Milly begins to coach the boys in the ways of polite society - and accidentally gives them the idea of kidnapping six eligible young ladies for the purposes of marriage. The film includes the songs 'Bless Your Beautiful Hide' and 'Lonesome Polecat'. 'My Fair Lady' (1964) is Lerner and Loewe's classic musical version of George Bernard Shaw's 'Pygmalion'. Professor Henry Higgins (Rex Harrison), an expert in phonetics, accepts the challenge of transforming common cockney flowergirl Eliza Dolittle (Audrey Hepburn) into a lady through elocution lessons. The film includes classic songs such as 'Wouldn't It Be Loverly', 'The Rain in Spain', 'I Could Have Danced All Night' and 'Get Me to the Church on Time'. |
