Description: |
Box set containing two popular comedies. 'Starsky and Hutch' (2004) is based on the classic seventies cop series and stars Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson as the undercover police detectives David Starsky and Ken 'Hutch' Hutchinson. The pair are reluctant partners and when assigned their latest case by their boss, Captain Dobey (Fred Williamson), the duo realise that the cocaine dealer they are after, Reese Feldman (Vince Vaughn), is the same criminal who was involved in their very first case. The chase begins, with the becardiganed Starsky and laid-back Hutch wise-cracking their way through the streets of Bay City in the famous souped-up red-and-white Ford Gran Torino, helped by their streetwise informant, Huggy Bear (Snoop Dogg). 'High Fidelity' (2000) is an adaptation of Nick Hornby's novel about failed romance and pop music obsession, relocated from North London to Chicago. DJ-turned-record shop owner Rob Gordon (John Cusack) undergoes a major crisis when his long-term girlfriend Laura (Iben Hjejle) walks out on him. Forced to reassess his previous failed relationships with women, Rob finds little solace with his employees - opinionated would-be rock singer Barry (Jack Black) and introverted, sensitive Dick (Todd Louiso) - who spend more time making compilation tapes and quarrelling over their all-time top five album-opener tracks than selling records. After a one-night stand with singer Marie De Salle (Lisa Bonet), Dick discovers that Laura has moved in with hated ex-neighbour Ian (Tim Robbins), and begins looking up his various exes in an attempt to find out where it all went wrong. |
