Description: |
'Chick flick' comedy triple. Isla Fisher stars in 'Confessions of a Shopaholic' (2009) as Rebecca Bloomwood, a young woman with a dangerously unhealthy obsession with shopping which has left her heavily in debt. After several failed attempts to cut back on her spending, she eventually gets a job (rather ironically) as a financial adviser for a magazine. Rebecca becomes famous almost overnight after writing a popular article about shoes, and uses her newfound celebrity to help solve her own financial problems. In the meantime, she begins a romantic relationship with wealthy entrepreneur, Luke (Hugh Dancy). In 'Coyote Ugly' (2000), 21-year-old Violet Sanford (Piper Perabo) has come to the Big Apple in order to pursue her dream of becoming a successful songwriter. But it is not her songwriting that is getting her noticed. Violet has taken up a part-time job as a barmaid at New York's hottest new club, the Coyote Ugly, where the girls spend more time dancing outrageously on the bar than actually serving drinks behind it. In 'Sweet Home Alabama' (2002), New York fashion designer Melanie Carmichael (Reese Witherspoon) becomes engaged to the city's most eligible bachelor, neglecting to tell him she is still married to her high-school sweetheart Jake (Josh Lucas), who refuses to divorce her. However, when Melanie returns to Alabama to try to sort things out, she finds herself being drawn back to her old life. |
