Description: |
PURBECK POTTERY - A HISTORY AND COLLECTORS' GUIDE is the very first published history and collectors' guide for Purbeck pottery. The authors Alan Peat and Peter Freeman demonstrate both the importance and the beauty of this pottery which, until recently, has been overshadowed by Poole pottery. |
Synopsis: |
Since its founding in 1966, Purbeck pottery has continually produced distinctive, high-quality ceramics. Purbeck's 'design signature' is most obvious in the highly textured decorative ware produced in the 1970's, but it also boasted designs by Robert Jefferson, who was, previously Head of Design at Poole pottery. Eddie Goodall (previously Senior Thrower at Poole) threw monogrammed vases (often clay-decorated by George Janes) for Purbeck which are, today, a rare find. |
