Description: |
Triple bill of films starring the beautiful screen icon, Grace Kelly. In 'To Catch a Thief' (1955), ex-cat burglar John Robie (Cary Grant) finds himself forced to prove his innocence after a spate of burglaries on the French Riviera. The only way he can clear himself is by catching the real thief. Co-star Kelly met her future husband Prince Ranier of Monaco on set. It was her third film with Alfred Hitchcock (after 'Dial M for Murder' and 'Rear Window'). 'The Country Girl' (1954) is a melodrama based on the play by Clifford Odets. Bing Crosby stars against type as alcoholic, guilt-ridden, has-been Broadway star Frank Elgin, alongside an unusually unglamorous Kelly in an Oscar-winning performance as his dedicated wife Georgie. When hotshot young director Bernie Dodd (William Holden) tries to get Elgin back on his feet by offering him a role in his new musical, his initial impression of the Elgins' marriage gives way to admiration for Georgie, and the discovery that all is not as it first seemed. 'The Bridges at Toko-Ri' (1954) is a romantic drama set during the Korean War. Happily married and retired fighter pilot Lt. Harry Brubaker (William Holden) is convinced to take to the skies once more to help stop the spread of Communism. Feeling that he has already done more than enough for his country by serving in World War II, he resents having to spend long stretches of time on battleships and away from his beloved wife Nancy (Kelly). |
